Who can resist the sounds of The Dave Matthews Band? Charlottesville,
Virginia is not only home to the University of Virginia, but it is the
birthplace of The Dave Matthews Band. After making the decision to put
some of his songs on tape, Dave Matthews enlisted the help of some
local musicians.
May 11, 1991 marks the first official gig for the new band at a private rooftop party in Charlottesville.
The first
public show was at Charlottesville's Earth Day Festival in 1991. Word
spread, clubs were packed to capacity and the music was contagious. In
1993, the bands first album, Remember Two Things, was released.
The rest is history.
