In 1935, an effort to
bring tourism to South Florida resulted in the formation of the
Orange Bowl Committee. The Orange Bowl Committee decided that a
sports spectacle dubbed the Orange Bowl Festival was the answer to
attracting thousands of fans to the area. The tradition that began
as little more than a New Year's Day football game between
Bucknell and the University of Miami has grown into the annual
Orange Bowl Festival - the single largest tourist attraction in
South Florida.
